An on demand  programming component for parks

Lack of activities in parks

A while back  I was visiting Manhattan's Union Square Park , I talked to a youth there who told me, “there's benches for the seniors  and a playground for the little kids but nothing for us.

This observation has been made by many observers

competition for leisure time

corporations like Amazon and Netflix spend billions of dollars creating programming to keep you watching television indoors. Food companies have research staffs spending hundreds of  millions of dollars every year to keep you busy eating indoors. their research staffs have 2  really interesting terms,  binge watching and Bliss point. They want to get you addicted to their products

competing for your leisure time are underfunded Parks departments that offer outdoor spaces with minimal activities  that cannot compete . so the average American spends over 90% of their time indoors

is this website going to get people to spend more time Outdoors? I think not. but what it is is a starting point for parks department to build upon with a goal of adding intelligence to parks  to start creating Smarter parks and ways to  get more people to want to spend time Outdoors

in many parks the only programming offered is a bench to sit on

offering more programming in Parks may not be a sufficient condition to get people to use Parks more but I suspect it's a necessary one

Having activitty possibilitties does not mean a person will uase a park. but not having activities means you are probably not going to uase it.

People may have the necessary knowledge, skills, attitudes, and motivation to be physically active, but if they do not have access to the necessary opportunities, they may be restricted or prohibited from being active. Having access to places and opportunities for physical activity and knowing these opportunities exist is criticalEfforts to increase access may not lead to increased use unless community members are involved and aware of the efforts

Parks have to compete for leisure time

will giving people more activity choices get A lot of them to use the outdoors more the answer actually be no. I have seen several times where a outdoor space  has had games offered and the games were barely used mostly the people wanted to sit talk and eat.

however there are some people who it will make a difference to. and it doesn't cost a lot of money to put up signage the cost benefit should be really good

.

One way to do this is to get people to do indoor activities outdoors. And that's one of the functions Park House does
